Barely 8 months to the December 4th general elections in the Gambia, government and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) are in a tussle about the 2020 Election Bill which was tabled before the National Assembly Members for debate and consideration.

The Chief Electoral Officer of the IEC recently told stakeholders that what Justice Minister presented before lawmakers contains the wills and aspirations of the said ministry not the electoral commission.

The Gambia Government has however denied tampering with the election bill.
