The Elections Watch Committee (EWC) in the Gambia says it has trained and deployed a total of 71 long-term observers to observe the pre-election processes across the country for the 2022 National Assembly elections.
The EWC explained that campaign activities began in almost all constituencies without incidents of violence, but observers reported witnessing and hearing about violations of the code of campaign ethics by political parties and independent candidates such as cases of voter card buying, the use of government vehicles and the distribution of gifts and money to voters during the campaign.
