Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, and Mauritania have been marked as high-risk destination locations for French tourists.

The French Ministry of foreign affairs website, while urging its citizens to show extreme vigilance, says the terrorist threat in the region remains high.

According to the advisory, the risk of attack and kidnapping targeting westerners is significantly high in the Sahelian zone but also in neighboring countries.
