The Nigerien Junta has been called upon by France to immediately release a French official held by the nation’s security forces.
According to Paris, an adviser to French citizens abroad who is an elected official and represents French expatriates was seized on September 8.
The French government declared that it has 442 such advisers worldwide working closely with its embassies and consulates.
Their role is to help French experts with issues relating to work, schools, social security, and other issues.
While the CNSP is yet to officially respond to the call, it last month expelled French ambassador, Sylvian Itte from the country.
But Elysee refused to recall the diplomat insisting that the army officers who seized power had no authority to expel him.
