The former Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kandia Kamissoko Camara, has been elected President of the Senate. The event took place on Thursday during the Senate’s inaugural session in the capital, Yamoussoukro.
She secured 91 out of 97 votes, with the remaining 6 ballots being blank.
As Sang Donald Mendy reports, Kandia Kamissoko Camara succeeds Jeannot Ahoussou Kouadio, who faced defeat in the regional elections on September 2 and the senatorial elections on September 16, 2023.
