The UN refugee agency – UNHCR estimates that the number of global forced displacement at Mid-year has surpassed 80million.
This was contained in the agency’s report on global displacement released Wednesday in Geneva.
According to the global displacement report, of the 79.5 million people, 45.7 million are internally displaced people (IDPs), 29.6 million refugees and others forcibly displaced outside their country and another 4.2 million asylum seekers.
The refugee agency said at the beginning of 2020, some 79.5 million people were forced to flee their homes due to persecution, conflict and human right violations.
