The first batch of approximately 750 Stranded Liberians from the Buduburam Refugees Camp in Ghana, arrived in Liberia during the weekend via the Loguatuo border in Nimba county.

They arrived in 20 buses accompanied by cargo vehicles with their personal belongings.

The repatriated Liberians were part of the group whose structures were recently demolished by traditional rulers at the Gomoa District in Ghana.

A total of 4,300 stranded Liberians are scheduled to return home between May and June this year.

This process is part of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) plans to ensure the return of stranded citizens from exile.

LRRRC Executive Director Patrick Worzie said construction work of a temporary camp is ongoing in Sergeant Kollie Town, Bong County, where the 750 people will be temporarily sheltered.
