The family of a South African national held captive by jihadists for over five years is renewing their plea for his release.

The call for Gerco van Deventer’s freedom comes on the heels of the recent release of a French journalist.

As Sankulleh Janko reports, Van Deventer was abducted in Libya in November 2017 while en route to a power plant construction site approximately 1,000 kilometers south of the capital, Tripoli.
