An attempt to smuggle ousted Nigerien president Mohamed Bazoum was unsuccessful. According to the authorities, a specialized unit made an effort to forcefully remove Bazoum from his current residence where he has been detained since his removal from power.
Gunfire ensued, leading to the arrest of the unidentified members of the commando group.
