This is the last package of WADR’s environment program in the year 2023, highlighting some significant environmental issues in the last half of the year such as the remarkable resolution reached among countries of the Sahel to reduce the impact of global warming.

Called the Bamako declaration, states of the central region met in the Malian capital for days to discuss the measures to be taken to combat climate change in liptako-gourma, otherwise known as the tri-border zone connecting Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.

This area is similarly characterized by a concentration of security threats.

The historic Bamako Declaration adopted at the end of the meeting details a roadmap for combating climate change, which is exacerbating the security crisis in the region.
