In Ghana, The immediate past Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, says incidents of violence recorded in the 2020 general election in Ghana, have tainted the country’s bragging rights as the bastion of democracy on the continent.

At least 5 people were killed during the December 7 election.

Dr. Chambas has therefore called on stakeholders in Ghana’s electoral process to find ways to end election violence and deaths.

However, the electoral commission says last year’s presidential and parliamentary elections were the best in the country’s 4th republic.
