The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS  has urged stakeholders in Senegal to prioritize dialogue following the impasse from the postponement of the country’s elections. 

President Macky Sall has encountered significant backlash after delaying the originally scheduled vote on February 25, leading to a severe political crisis in the West African nation.

Despite the Constitutional Council overturning the delay and urging for the vote to take place “as soon as possible” last week, a date is yet to be given.

Speaking at an extraordinary ECOWAS summit in Abuja, President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Alieu Touray also appealed to international partners not to interfere in the affairs of  sovereign African states
