The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has cancelled its summit scheduled for Dakar on October 13 and 14.
The Community’s leaders were to meet on October 13 and 14 as part of an extraordinary summit on security but also to discuss the situation in Burkina Faso.
However, Ghanaian ambassador, Abdel Fatau Musah who is the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of ECOWAS explained that following the declaration of Captain Ibrahim Traoré who agrees to implement the ECOWAS agenda, it was not appropriate for the heads of state to meet in Dakar to discuss a question already settled.
Musah assures that the sub-regional organization will meet in ordinary session in December to assess “the progress that has been made by Burkina Faso, but will also examine the situation in Mali and Guinea.
