The World Health Organization WHO has warned of a catastrophic moral failure over the covid19 vaccine distribution.
The UN health agency further called on countries and manufacturers to share doses more fairly across beneficiary states.
Director General of WHO – Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said prospects for equitable distribution of the vaccine are at “serious risk” just as COVAX aims to start distributing inoculations next month.
Ghebreyesus said 44 bilateral deals were signed last year and at least 12 have already been signed this year.
Speaking at the Agency’s annual Executive Board meeting, the WHO boss said such a “me-first approach” will leave the world’s poorest and most vulnerable population at risk.
