Togo has recorded progress in the Transparency International corruption perception index, gaining 6 places compared to the last ranking. 

This year, Togo stood at position 128th out of 180 countries, compared to 134th place in 2019 and 2020. 

Togo was credited with a score of 30 out of 100 (+1 compared to 2019 and 2020), is positioned 29th in the ranking on the African continent, above the average for sub-Saharan Africa, where " no significant improvement” was noted. 

Overall, the same trend is observed at the global level, where the average remained unchanged (43/100) for the tenth consecutive year, which translates, “levels of corruption at a standstill”, according to the NGO based in Berlin. 

In Africa, the ranking remains dominated by Cape Verde (39th worldwide, with a score of 58), Mauritius (49th worldwide, with a score of 54), and Rwanda (52nd worldwide, with a score of 53). Nigeria, the economic giant of West Africa, occupies the 154th place in the world, with a score of 24 points.

At the bottom of the African (and world) ranking, we find in particular South Sudan (180th in the world, with a score of 11), Somalia (178th in the world with a score of 13), and Libya (172nd in the world, with a score of 17 dots).
