Following the announcement of provisional electoral results by Liberia’s National Election Commission chairperson Davidetta Brown-Lansanah, there has been a euphoria of jubilation by members of the two major political Unity Party of Joseph Boakai and the Congress for Democratic Change of incumbent George Weah.
Many political observers and democratic stakeholders are projecting the detrimental effect of the claimed victory by the two main political parties ahead of the EC announcement of the final result, emphasizing the rising tension, amid fear of post-electoral violence, and how the National Election Commission is responding to the development.
