Freedom of expression, a key tenant of democracy in recent times has been stifled by various government machinations on the sub-region and the continent at large.
Citizens who recognize this constitutional right and exercise it in various forms, particularly contractively critiquing the government in order to ensure good governance are seen as anti-government, some are abducted, or kidnapped, while others also suffer some terms of imprisonment and various censorship.
In this magazine edition of Citizens Hour, we critically analyze the state of freedom of expression in our different countries with special focus on Guinea Bissau, Ghana, Senegal, and Guinea.
Our guests Dr Faya Millimono, president of the Guinean Liberal Bloc (BL), a political party and Selorm Dramani Dzramado, lead convener for Justice for Ghana, a civil society group in Ghana extensively discussed the state of freedom of expression in their respective countries.
