Security analyst Adib Saani says it is in the interest of all countries within the West African Sub-Region to ensure law and order prevails in Chad.

This follows the sudden death of President Idriss Déby Itno on April 19, 2021. The former president who will be buried on Friday, April 23 was killed while fighting rebels trying to overthrow his government

Following the announcement of his death, the military took over control of the country with a transitional military council of 15 generals led by Mahamad Idriss Deby, one of the president's sons.

Some opposition leaders however argue that the speed of events points to a Coup D’etat and must be condemned.

Speaking to WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson, Adib Sani said the matter must be handled carefully to ensure stability within the sub region and the Sahel. He also noted that the series if events following the murder of the Head of State point to a coup.
