Success Masra, the transitional appointed Prime Minister of Chad has resigned 24 hours before the inauguration of the president-elect – Mahamat Deby Itno.

Until his resignation this Wednesday, Masra led the government for almost five months.

Success Masra’s departure is however not unconstitutional as the law of Chad requires the Prime minister and his team to be dismissed at the end of an election.

A radical opponent of the late President and father of the president-elect, Idriss Deby Itno, leader of the Transformers, joined the transition in December 2023 with the signing of the Kinshasa Agreement after returning to the country.

Despite aspiring for the presidency, Success Masra came second in the May 6 presidential election after he secured 18.54%.

General Mahamat Deby Itno is being inaugurated to return Chad to democratic rule following his 61% victory that was validated by the constitutional council.
