The Chadian presidency on Tuesday says the ongoing national dialogue on peace will be rounded off on the 30th of September.
The forum which was launched on August 20 by the president of the transition, General Mahamat Idriss Deby, and planned to last 21 days, has experienced several suspensions causing a delay in the initially announced schedule.
The Chadian presidency also announced that “the plenary work suspended last Saturday will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28.
Despite the boycott of the discussions by certain politico-military groups, the coalition of political parties and civil society Wakit Tamma and the Les Transformateurs party, as well as the withdrawal of the Catholic Church, the work is proceeding and certain commissions have already submitted their reports to the presidential Committee.
The commission for the Form of the State, Constitution, Institutional Reforms and Electoral Process” recommended a presidential term of 7 years, renewable once.
These recommendations will be examined on Wednesday during plenary work and will see a possible amendment before its adoption.
