Chad declares state of emergency as floods affect one million

The transitional President of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Itno Deby declared a state of emergency on Wednesday over flooding that is affecting and displacing more than a million people in the central African country.

Addressing in a televised position, the leader announced measures that will enable the authorities to better contain and manage the disaster.
