Canada and Côte d’Ivoire have signed a major trade agreement. The signing took place on August 19, 2024, in Abidjan, with Canadian Foreign Minister, Mélanie Joly, and her Ivorian counterpart, Wautabouna Ouattara, representing their countries.
This agreement aims to boost trade cooperation in areas like infrastructure, transport, energy, health, housing, education, agriculture, and green energy. Canada is contributing 69 billion FCFA to support Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan.
Both ministers highlighted the importance of this partnership for addressing international issues and promoting mutual benefits. They also celebrated the creation of the Canada-Côte d’Ivoire Chamber of Commerce to further enhance trade relations.
