Cameroonian President Paul Biya, has appointed new judges to the military courts in the country.
The appointments were made on Tuesday.
By this decree, the Head of State is strengthening the country’s military judicial system.
In total, four military courts are affected by these appointments made by the Head of State of Cameroon, Paul Biya. These are the military courts of Ebolowa, Garoua, Maroua, and Ngaoundéré, reports have said.
The newly promoted magistrates will be tasked with ensuring the proper functioning of military justice in their respective jurisdictions and contributing to strengthening the rule of law.
These appointments come at a time when Cameroon is facing numerous security challenges, particularly in the English-speaking regions. Strengthening military justice could thus help combat insecurity and ensure respect for human rights.
The details of these new appointments were communicated in a document issued on Tuesday.
