The human rights group has Amnesty International said yet in another report on Wednesday that the arrests, arbitrary detentions and military court proceedings of opponents who have gathered peacefully, are the latest episode in the Cameroonian authorities' crackdown on dissenting voices since the end of September.
The rights group said out of at least 500 people arrested in connection with the September 22 protests – mostly activists from the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC, opposition) – at least 160 remain in detention.
Of these, it said, 13 were sentenced to prison terms by civilian courts, and 14 were referred to a military court.
