Burkina Faso’s authorities are expressing regret over negotiations that took place with jihadist groups prior to the 2020 elections.

In a recent interview on national television, Captain Ibrahim Traore, the president of the transition, stated that these negotiations were a source of humiliation for the Burkinabe army.

Instead, he believes the only viable option is to fight against these groups and that he will not surrender any territory under his watch.
