Burkina Faso will begin its national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella from March 15 to 21 in 170 health districts.
The Minister of Health and Public Hygiene in a statement, noted that the national vaccination campaign aims to strengthen the immunity of children aged 9 to 59 months against measles and rubella. Rubella is a contagious viral infection best known for its distinctive red rash.
It’s also called German measles or three-day measles.
The campaign, which targets over 3.4 million children, will be financed by the Burkinabè State and technical and financial partners including the Global Vaccine Alliance (GAVI), at the cost of over 6.7 million dollars.
