The transitional authorities in Ouagadougou and Niamey have officially withdrawn from the joint security platform known as the G5 Sahel.
The spokespersons for the Burkinabe government Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo and of the Nigerien Junta Abdourahamane Amadou in a statement described the decision as historic, given the ever-evolving security context which is an increasing burden on both states.
