The Beninese government has announced a special recruitment of 5000 new soldiers.
Most of these recruits will be stationed in the north of the country, where terrorist groups have been active.
This initiative the Beninese government said demonstrates its commitment to fighting terrorism and increasing its resources to combat these groups.
The 5000 new soldiers will be organized into “projection groups of the armed forces” after their training and immediately deployed to various operational areas.
The exact date of their deployment is yet to be determined. Since December 2021, northern Benin has seen increased attacks by armed terrorist groups, resulting in several deaths within the military ranks.
