AstraZeneca says no evidence vaccine causes blood clots

Drug maker -AstraZeneca says it has conducted review of persons vaccinated with its covid19 jab which showed no proof of an increased risk of blood cloths.

AstraZeneca in a statement on Sunday, said the review covered more than 17million people vaccinated in the European Union and United Kingdom.

It said a careful review of all available safety data of more than 17 million people vaccinated in the European Union and UK with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca has shown no evidence of an increased risk of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis or thrombocytopenia.

The pharmaceutical company explained that in all the reviews, there was no record of reactions in any defined age group, gender, batch or in any particular country.

Recall, authorities in Denmark, Norway and Iceland on Thursday suspended the use of the vaccine over clotting issues, while Austria stopped using a batch of AstraZeneca shots over investigations into one death from coagulation disorders.

Ireland on Sunday temporarily suspended AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine “out of an abundance of caution”.
