Amnesty International is calling for an immediate probe into the death of 5 protesters in Chad. The civilians were killed and others injured on Tuesday after they hit the streets, demanding return to civilian rule.
The demonstrations followed days of agitations since the death of Idriss Deby Itno last week and the subsequent takeover by the military.
On Wednesday, Amnesty International’s West and Central Africa Deputy Director Marceau Sivieude urged authorities to launch impartial and independent investigations into the circumstances of these deaths and bring to justice anyone suspected to be responsible of unlawful killing.
