World-leading producers of cocoa have joined forces to establish an African Cocoa Exchange platform for the pricing of cocoa on the continent.
The platform comprising Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Togo is aimed at helping the continent whose cocoa hubs and value chains are predominantly in West Africa have some control over the pricing of cocoa.
It will function as an international marketing platform for financing and trading cocoa proceeds between farmers, local and international consumers of cocoa.
From Accra, Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson reports.
