In a concerning development, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has sounded the alarm over an “unprecedented surge” in public health emergencies across the continent. The agency warns that the growing number of outbreaks and health crises is putting immense strain on already fragile healthcare systems in many African countries.

In its latest report, Africa CDC urged governments to step up efforts in establishing innovative and sustainable domestic financing mechanisms. The call comes amid growing challenges such as disease outbreaks, limited resources, and the lingering impact of previous health emergencies like COVID-19 and Ebola.

The Center emphasized that without robust investment and strategic planning, the continent risks being overwhelmed by current and future public health threats.
