The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) has called on the governments in Africa and various Civil society organizations to look for indigenous and flexible models of funding to be sustainable.
In an interview, the head of communication for WACSI Meron Dagnew called for diversification of dependency on foreign aid.
Her comment comes at the time American donor USAID has decided to cut aid and funding to Africa: as WACSI, Bond UK, and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), launch a transformative roadmap next week February 12.
According to Ms Dagne, this seeks to redefine global civil society partnerships across the globe to shift power dynamics, strengthen local leadership, and promote trust-based funding.
