Men and women commonly had clean-shaven or close-cropped hair and often wore wigs in ancient Egyptian society!

Purposely to shield shaved, hairless heads from the sun and also on top of the hairs with the use of beeswax and resin to properly position wigs on their heads, wearing wigs came in handy for them!

Apart from the Egyptians, the Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians, and Jews in ancient Israel and the Assyrians complemented their fashion trend with wig-wearing.

A wig is a head or hair accessory made from human hair, animal hair, or synthetic hair.

In contemporary times, the marketing and consumption of wigs is seemingly a big boosting economic drive for wig-making countries, especially among those of Native African Descent or African countries. With new artistic styles and a sense of self prestige and societal pressures, most ladies are in high demand of these wigs to accessorize and redeem or maintain a personal fashion image!
