MANAGING HYPERTENSION
In this edition of the programme, we take a look at Hypertension.
Hypertension which is also known as high blood pressure is a transitory (short-lived) or chronic elevation of the blood pressure in the arteries. This elevation may lead to cardiovascular damage.
Hypertension is said to be a condition of people older from the age of 50 years, however, with modern sedentary lifestyles, the condition now affects even the younger population.
World Hypertension Day which is celebrated globally on every 17th of May, reminds us of the need to live a healthy lifestyle, while educating the public and increasing awareness of hypertension, which is also commonly known as high blood pressure.
This year’s 2023 celebration is themed “Know your Numbers”
