As the 2023 general elections in Liberia approach, The National Electoral umpire has given an ultimatum to all presidential and parliamentary aspirants, involved in pre-campaigning, to take down or remove all their billboards, posters, banners, and jingles among others or risk punitive actions in line with the elections law.
The ultimatum comes amid pre-campaigning activities by several aspirants under the cover of awareness about the ongoing voter registration exercise.
In this interview, we examined the effect of these measures taken by the commission on the political party candidates, how the justice system is responding to the development and the commission’s financial constraint.
