Candidates of the Gambia’s ruling National People’s Party NPP have expressed optimism after filing their nomination papers for the upcoming mayoral and chairmanship elections.
The NPP, led by President Barrow, has submitted nominations in all seven regions of the country, with the aim of unseating the current mayors of the capital Banjul and Kanifing Municipality, who both belong to the leading opposition United Democratic Party UDP.
