An international human rights organization, Trial International, says the indictment of former Gambian Interior Minister Ousman Sonko by Swiss prosecutors is a ‘very big sign of hope for victims of human rights abuses in The Gambia
This comes after the office of the Attorney General of Switzerland filed a charge against Gambia’s former military Sonko for crimes against humanity committed under former authoritarian leader Yahya Jammeh.
The Swiss-based NGO further believes the trial will assist the transitional justice process in the Gambia
Trial International Lawyer Benoit Meystre spoke to our Banjul Correspondent Sankulleh Janko online from Geneva, Switzerland.
