The Gambia’s, President Adama Barrow’s ruling National People’s Party (NPP) emerges winner of the local government elections held on Saturday.
However, the victory was a narrow one as the NPP lost in the two largest regions of the country while winning by a landslide in the capital city Banjul.
Despite being a significant event, the election recorded one of the poorest voter turnouts in the country’s history, with less than half of registered voters casting their ballots.
