The call for demonstration by the main political opposition Yewwi Askan Wi (YAW) enters day two.
Today’s protest in the 46 departments of Senegal according to the coalition is to denounce the arbitrary arrests of political actors and the instrumentalization of justice against opponents.
Already yesterday afternoon, dozens of activists from Yewi Askan Wi gathered at the Parcelles Assainies with their political leader Ousmane Sonko.
Sonko had in a statement called on the Senegalese population to mobilize on March 14 and 15.
Meanwhile, the nationwide demonstration comes on the eve of a court hearing on Thursday in a case filed against the opposition leader by the minister of tourism Mame Mbaye Niang who accused him of defamation.
