The Ghana Health Services GHS has confirmed additional cases of Lassa fever in the country.

The health institution says the number of cases has risen to 14 and death.

Not endemic in Ghana, health officials had reported the first case of the fatal disease caused by fluids from rodents months ago.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Medical Association GMA is calling on frontline health workers to adhere to simple preventive measures, including the use of PPAs to curb the spread of the disease.

Some health officials have been infected.

Dr Richard Serlomey is the acting secretary general of GMA.
