Senegal: National Assembly strips MP Amina Toure of parliamentary privileges

The Senegalese National Assembly on Tuesday in a vote stripped Amina Toure, an MP of all her post and privileges.

Toure, head of the national list of the ruling coalition Benno Bokk Yakkar had

written to President Macky Sall about her desire to withdraw from the majority group on October 9, 2022.

The MP was at Tuesday a non-registered deputy.

An opposition MP Mamadou Lamine Diallo, who participated in the disqualification vote, confirmed the information on his Twitter account describing the move as an attack on women and democracy.

7 lawmakers voted against and 10 in favour, sparking a social media frenzy with many arguing its legitimacy.
