President Adama Barrow paid a special tribute to his former Vice President Badara Alieu Joof during a state funeral on Monday in Banjul.

Recall, the former Vice President died in India last week after a brief illness.

Emotional President Barrow said the deceased rose to the position of vice president thanks to the competence he displayed during his time as Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

Barrow described him as a trusted friend and brother adding that he was a formidable and natural leader of rare courage.
