Patrick Kroker is the lawyer for Baba Hydara and other victims of rights violations under the regime of former Gambian President Yaya Jammeh.
Kroker like other legal experts and rights groups has rallied and fought for justice for Gambians who were subjected to torture, and sexual harassment and those whose loved ones were killed or went missing during Jammeh’s era.
In 2005, the Gambia recorded a tragic event which was the killing of some 59 West African by a paramilitary unit known as the Death squad.
For nearly two decades, the only survivor Martins Kyere, a Ghanaian, and the families of the victims are still pursuing justice.
In a historic turn of events, the survivor, Kyere on Thursday testified before a court in Germany.
Patrik tells us more about the significance of the process.
