Ghana has amended its criminal offences act to incorporate the plea bargain during criminal proceedings.
The Criminal and Other Offences Amended Act has been described as an answer to the many calls by advocates of reform of the criminal justice system in Ghana.
Law lecturer at the University of Ghana Law School and legal consultant for LADA Institute, a human rights advocacy organization, Courage Asabangna, is calling for more awareness for the new plea bargaining law. According to him, this new law presents numerous benefits that need to be highlighted.
