Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, has threatened to embark on a solidary strike with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU following its protracted industrial action.
NUPENG in a statement by its President and General Secretary, Prince Williams Akporeha and Afolabi Olawale, expressed worry about the country's educational sector.
According to the Union, the protracted strike has left activities in the tertiary institutions paralyzed for close to eight months.
It says the lingering industrial action shows the insensitivity of the current administration towards promoting and projecting good and quality education.
It therefore called on the Government together with other Trade Unions to immediately address and resolve all demands of the Academic Unions.
Speaking to WADR, Jocelyn Elakeche Adah, a journalist in Abuja says this would indeed put more strain on the already crippling economy.
