Chad has begun processes to establish a cancer registry. t
According to the Chadian Ministry of Public Health and National Solidarity, the cancer registry constitutes a robust tool (for) a continuous and exhaustive collection of nominative and clinical data on people with cancer in a geographically defined population.
Technical and financial support for the centre will be provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) which has described the centre as essential for surveillance, registration, research and control.
Research has shown that Cancer statistics in Chad are “fragmented and limited” mainly because of the poor access to diagnosis for those affected.
The Chadian authorities believe that "this is the visible part of the iceberg because the diagnostic capacities are very weak throughout the Chadian territory in the absence of a technical platform intended for the care of patients.
