African children are sending a clear and urgent message to governments and donors to make schools safe.

The call comes on the Day of the African Child and the 30th anniversary of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC).

Children in Sub-Saharan Africa have lost, on average, 69 days of education due to school closures and a lack of access to remote learning according to the UN.

Now, during Save the Children’s campaign 100 Days of Action, thousands of African children used the days leading up to June 16 to speak about missing quality safe access to education due to factors like the global pandemic, unsafe schools, and discrimination against girls.

Veronic Njie reports.
