Security tensions might be heightened in Mali as France suspends joint military operations with the Malian forces.

France announced this on Thursday, days after President Emmanuel Macron threatened to pull out over five thousand French troops that are supporting the country’s counter terrorism campaign.

Meanwhile, The United States last week suspended its military relationship with the Sahelian country that has been battling insurgency since 2012 over a military coup.

The Second Coup by Mali’s junta in less than a year has attracted global attention with the international community advocating for A swift return to democratic rule.
