Counting is underway in Benin following Sunday’s presidential election which was contested by incumbent Patrice Talon and two other contenders.

According local media reports, voting did not take place in some parts of the country especially strongholds because of violence.

The regional bloc, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which deployed over 100 observers to observe the election has called on Beninese to respect the results of Sunday’s vote.
